Hi!

I’m a writer, journalist and critic. Right now, I’m a full-time freelancer, writing about arts, culture and entertainment — primarily TV & film — and what pop culture can tell us about about who we are. This year, I was selected to participate in the National Critics Institute.

Recently, I’ve written for The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times, The L.A. Times, The Boston Globe and Rolling Stone. Before this, I was a Culture Reporter at TIME Magazine. Before that, I was the Culture Fellow at The New York Times, as part of their third annual fellowship class. And before that, I was a Features Reporter at The L.A. Times (I also worked on their Arts & Entertainment team.)

I was also awarded a Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowship grant to write about memory work between Colombia & Chicago; this project later became part of the World Humanities Report.

I live in Chicago with my cats, Momo & Fuku, and you can reach me at lizornosa@gmail.com.
